Import & export of narcotics.

There is an extensive regulatory framework for import and export of narcotics. The Swedish Medical Products Agency (Läkemedelsverket) issues licences under the Swedish Narcotics Control Act. The permits are subject to a number of conditions, often including quarterly and/or annual reporting requirements.

Businesses wishing to import and/or export narcotics need a basic permit and usually a permit for each individual consignment. A copy of the export permit must accompany the narcotics during transport. After the consignment has been received or sent, the amount brought in or out must be confirmed to the Swedish Medical Products Agency (Läkemedelsverket - MPA).
